MadamVino’s services include:
MadamVino is honored to help clients navigate the world of “wining and dining.” She will help her clients take the thinking out of the drinking so they may spend their time enjoying their collection instead of expending time, energy, and effort to organize and maintain the cellar. She will assist the client in their travel plans to discover new wine regions.
If desired, she will guide the client to expand and challenge his/her palate to discover new wines through education and wine purchase suggestions. She will advise when a bottle in your collection has reached its prime. Finally, she will support your endeavors as a supreme host/hostess, whether you desire to organize wine educational dinners or need assistance with food pairings for dinner parties.
Susan Kang brings more than three decades of passion and expertise in wine collection, travel, consumption, education, and organization to the table. She personally maintains approximately 1,300 bottles of wine in her home wine cellar, which has been strategically curated down from a 4,000+ collection.
She has traveled to more than 50 countries and dined at some of the greatest restaurants to sample wines. International wine region travels include Bordeaux, Champagne, Chianti, Piedmont, Rioja, and Jerez. In the United States, she has visited Oregon, Texas, and Washington. Susan has visited California’s most prominent American Viticultural Areas hundreds of times, including Napa, Sonoma, Paso Robles, San Miguel, Templeton, and Santa Ynez.
As a “recovering” attorney, Susan brings a similar academic approach to enology as she engaged in her prior career. Her certifications include Wine Education and Spirits Trust Levels Two and Three with “distinction and merit” and Court of Sommelier Level One. She studied under Master Sommelier (only 279 in the world and 172 in the United States) Peter Neptune.
As any attorney worth her salt, Susan is uncompromising in her continuing education endeavors. For the last 30 years, she has never missed reading a single issue of the two most relevant wine magazines, The Wine Advocate (by Robert Parker) and The Wine Spectator. She is on the second reading of Karen McNeil’s Wine Bible from front to back and studying many other wine publications. To gain deeper knowledge into grape cultivation, she has planted a small row of Syrah grapes in her yard.
Utilizing her education, experience, exposure, and training, Susan is passionate about assisting avid enophiles as well as everyday wine collectors to uniquely tailor their wine purchases and organizational needs. Every bottle has a story, and Susan loves to help people build their library to suit their tastes and budgets while challenging them to broaden their palates. Cheers!
